Women's Cancer Action believes in the power of information to help you make choices about treatment and prevention.  Since information about western therapies is abundant, we want to provide you with information
about other options, such as complementary and alternative therapies.

Complementary and alternative therapies are diverse medical and health care systems, practices and products, many of which have roots in other cultures and have been practiced for thousands of years.

In the United States, the prevalent health care system is referred to as "conventional" medicine.  Conventional treatments for cancer include surgery, radiation and chemotherapy provided by oncologists, radiologists and other conventional medical professional.  Complementary therapies are used along with conventional medicine, while alternative therapies are used in place of conventional medicine.
